Marullah Announces Plan to Split Kapuk Urban Village

The Jakarta Provincial Government has confirmed that the plan to split Kapuk Urban Village in Cengkareng, West Jakarta, is only a matter of time. This was conveyed by Jakarta Regional Secretary, Marullah Matali.

"...it's just a matter of time,"

Marullah stated that the proposal to divide Kapuk Urban Village into three separate urban villages has already been submitted to Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung. He noted that the population which has reached around 175,000 people is a strongreason for the split.

"It has already been prepared, if I'm not mistaken, and I've also conveyed it to the governor. So, now it's just a matter of time," he conveyed, Wednesday (7/30).

Ideally, an urban village in Jakarta should have between 40,000 and 60,000 residents. With a current population nearly three times that number, Kapuk is considered more than ready for administrative expansion.

Marullah also mentioned that two of the three proposed new urban village names, Kapuk Barat and Kapuk Timur, have been prepared, although the formal splitting process is still underway.

"But everything is still in progress," he added.

He targeted that the expansion plan can be realized soon.

"Hopefully, in the near future, we can finalize this together," he expressed.
